Windows Server 2012 : Create RDS Collection [part I]

In these posts, we’ll see how to create a basic Remote Desktop Session collection (formerly known as RDS Farm). 

Deployment Scenario
In this first part, we’ll add server roles for our deployment scenario :
  • one Remote Desktop Connection Broker server (in charge of load balancing / reconnect sessions);
  • one Remote Desktop Web Access server (for remoteApp and connections presentation);
  • two Remote Desktop Session Host servers (hosting user sessions).

Step by Step Role Deployment
First, add servers to server Management :

Select servers you want to add to the RDS deployment :

On “Server Manager Dashboard”, select “Add roles and features” :

select “Remote Desktop Services scenario-based installation” :

Select “Standard Deployment” :

Select “Session Virtualization” :

Select server for RD Connection Broker role :

Select server for RD Web Access role :

Finally, select servers for RD Session Host role :

Select “Restart the destination server automatically…”

Now we have a RD Connection Broker, a RD Web Access and two Remote Desktop Session Hosts servers.
